We are now firmly in the run up to Christmas. The festive season is a busy one for us and presents a number of opportunities for fundraising for our charities. We have just done the Malling Lights and were pleased to have our gazebo up next to Kings Hill Rotary Club, showing solidarity in our various causes. The mulled wine and mince pies went down well with the Swedish ginger biscuits. This is a big fundraiser for us and it helps to ensure that we have funds available for both local and international causes.
Our next big push is for the Christmas collections outside Tesco and Morrisons. We are very grateful to these supermarkets for their support of the club which includes donations of mince pies for the Malling Lights event as well as permission to collect outside their premises. Of course there would be no point were it not for the generosity of the community who understand that we use their generous donations to improve the lives of those less fortunate.
Christmas isn’t all work for Rotarians. We have our Christmas Dinner event next week which is always a friendly occasion. Partners and guests are always invited and I look forward to this every year.
Then we look forward to the New Year. Our really big event is the ABBA tribute night
on 16th March at East Malling Village Hall. There is already a lot of interest in
Rotary has a lot to offer through its opportunities for social friendship along with putting something back into the community with like minded and friendly people. If you are making a resolution to do something different in the New Year why not come along to one of our meetings with no obligation? Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can book your meal if you are planning to come. We meet at Spadework at Offham on alternate Tuesday evenings and a meal is £12 and we run a raffle at £1 a ticket. The prize is a bottle of wine which is always warmly received!
